This is our team!
We are reaching out to you with an update about our work and an invitation to support us as immigrant communities are increasingly targeted.
We have almost all the pieces that make these networks of support we’ve been growing for impacted families more efficient and sustainable. However, a key component we are missing is support for our operations. For the Community Relief Fund, operations funds will go to support many aspects of our work including;
-Website/administrative/office costs
-Immigrant community education
-Preparedness/family support packets being translated into French, Portuguese, Lingala and Arabic
-Interpretor fees
-Transportation
-And increasingly vital, wages for our core organizers, who are all bipoc and have been doing this work on an entirely volunteer basis for over a year. Having a dignified wage for each of us serves to increase the amount of time and energy this work needs from our team. As it stands, we currently need to pause meetings, intakes, crisis support, childcare, crucial fundraising and resourcing so that we can make ends meet some other way. We are so grateful to be doing this, to be connecting with our neighbors and to be harnessing people power to support dear members of our community during this time of consistent crisis and we will continue whether or not we get paid. We will endeavor to shape our world and this project in a way that honors our dignity, our lives and our call to this work.
